A whole collection

Someone spent years choosing these.

Tell us what it is and why it is time to move it on. We buy the whole of it, and every piece goes to somebody who will actually use it and who wants to know where it has been.

  1. You write. A few questions and some photographs of it where it stands.
  2. We reply. Within two days, from the person who would come.
  3. We record the story. On camera where it lives, on a call, or in writing.
  4. One price. For all of it, paid at once.
  5. With your name. Your story goes with every piece.

Unseend is in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Sending and bringing are as welcome as a visit; if it is sent, we pay the freight and insure it.
When does it need to be gone
No hurry is a good answer. It lets us plan a visit properly.
3Condition and photographs
In your own words. Broken, incomplete or untested is fine and is normal; it only needs saying.
Photographs

Or attach them to the reply that comes back within two days. Any of them works, and nothing is looked at until a person reads it. Do not clean up first — the shelves as they stand tell us more than a tidy arrangement.

Would you tell the story of it
Filmed at the collection wherever it is, on a video call, or written in your own time. It never changes the price.

The reply comes here, from a person, within two days.

Answered within two days, by the person who would come, and by email at every step after that. Nothing you send is shared with anyone, and your photographs are deleted if we do not go ahead.

How we get to one number

Three ways the story gets recorded

On camera, where it lives. We travel to the collection and film it properly: you talking about how it started, the room and the shelves as they are, the objects in your hands.

On a call. If the collection is sent to us, we do the same conversation over a video call and write it up. One photograph of the shelf as it stood carries the room.

In writing. Answer a handful of questions in your own time and in your own words. It goes on the objects exactly as you wrote it.

What makes the number what it is

Between a third and a half of a collection sells at all. The rest is taken away and paid for anyway.

The good pieces count at what comparable examples actually sold for, not at the best day on the internet.

Collecting, testing, repairing, photographing, storing, shipping, fees, returns, insurance and tax: none of which a private seller pays.

You name the number on the form, and you get an honest answer to it either way.

What we are looking for

Ten pieces and up, or fewer if they are exceptional. Any condition: broken, incomplete, boxed, mixed. Mixed is better than pure, and everything goes, including the parts that will never appear on Unseend.

What we say no to

Anything too large or too fragile to move sensibly, and collections already listed piece by piece somewhere else. Fewer than ten pieces? Sell a piece instead.
