Vintage mechanical watches

Hand-wound and automatic watches with a movement of springs and gears and no battery. Each listing names the calibre, the year and any known service history.

What is the difference between hand-wound and automatic?

A hand-wound watch is wound by the crown, usually once a day. An automatic winds itself from the movement of your wrist through a rotor, and most can be wound by hand as well.

Does a vintage mechanical watch need a service?

At some point, yes: oils dry out over the years. The listing says when a watch was last serviced if that is known, and how it runs now.
